Eileen Alford

Eileen Alford - VP of Operations

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA where I fell in love with fitness and exercise at the age of 12 when I started running and never stopped. I graduated from LaRoche College in Pittsburgh with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. I worked as an instructor and managed several fitness centers and also started a 15 year career in banking. I am also an AFAA certified Personal Fitness Trainer. I have completed several half marathons including the SF Half and the See Jane Run Half but my favorite and most challenging race has been the Diablo Trail challenge that I've done a couple of times so far. I also placed 3rd in my division for a sprint triathlon while I was still living in Pittsburgh. I love competition. I moved to California in January of 2005. I met Sheena in 2006 and began training for her soon after. I trained for Living Lean for 2 1/2 years then took some time off to raise my young children. I joined back up with Sheena in the fall of 2010 and am enjoying being part of Living Lean again. It is a one of a kind program!

I was born and raised in New England where I was a competitive high school cross country/track & field athlete. I had the honor to run for Villanova University during college where my passion for strength and conditioning began to blossom. After college, I went on to compete professionally for the New York Athletic Club and complete two advanced degrees, the most recent in Biomechanics and Coaching Theory from Tufts University. I'm a coach by nature so training and teaching anyone interested in bettering their physical fitness is my job. As an undergraduate student at UC Davis I spent most of my time at the recreation center. My sophomore year I developed a passion for rock climbing and eventually became certified to teach lessons to students and staff. My interest in fitness and coaching grew from there, and my junior year I took additional classes to become a certified personal trainer, and five years later I still have a passion for training others! I trained on campus at Davis and then at Gold’s Gym Oakland and then made my way to Living Lean. Having trained in many different settings, it is clear to me that Living Lean provides a unique experience, one that is both dynamic and challenging. My success with clients at Living Lean comes not only from my knowledge of fitness but also my attention to correct form and my ability to coach and inspire others. I look forward to working with you on your health and fitness journey!

I grew up in both Oakland and Pittsburg, two cities where at a young age there was not much for me to do but play sports with my family and friends. I played sports and have been exercising for the latter half of my life, and have always strived to be fit. I am a recent graduate from UC Berkeley with a degree in Nutritional Sciences: Physiology and Metabolism. It was during my time in college where I had the privilege of coaching high school basketball players in Oakland for two years. Being able to offer the youth training and nutrition advice made me happy, and I began realizing that I had a passion in advocating healthy lifestyle choices. After graduating, I became certified as a personal trainer through NASM, and am planning on attaining my Strength and Conditioning Coach certification as well. I believe that feeling fit is a feeling that goes beyond the physical; it can help boost confidence and overall joy. With Living Lean, I am dedicated to helping clients achieve their health and fitness goals, and even more importantly I am grateful for the opportunity to see clients happy as they achieve their goals.

As a bay area native I have been an enthusiast of running and cycling since I can remember. The area is filled beautiful trails and scenic highways that have always inspired me to get out and explore the world whether it be on foot or on wheels. I have participated in numerous races throughout the state and am always looking for new opportunities to push others and myself. My day is not complete until I’ve sweat at least once! Needless to say fitness and health is not only one of my passions, but a lifestyle. I believe that leading a fit and healthy life should not be a painful process, but an enjoyable one. It is truly a reward to work with people who share a common goal, and that is to live a healthy life. I come into the gym each day with the opportunity to inspire others to change their lives, and that’s what Living Lean is about!

Julie Vilardi

Julie Vilardi

My name is Julie Vilardi and unlike most of the other Living Lean trainers, I was a Living Lean client for two and a half years prior to becoming a Living Lean Trainer. I am a mother of two children, ages 8 and 11. I am a registered nurse and currently work as a healthcare IT professional. I have found that my personal journey of health and fitness, as a mother and a busy professional, provides me with an excellent perspective when working with clients, particularly with overcoming the challenges of making fitness a regular part of their lives. I particularly enjoy the one on one or small group training model employed by Living Lean. This model affords me the opportunity to work closely with and personally get to know each of my clients. I love working with a wide range of clients and tailoring fitness routines to help each individual to strive towards realizing their fullest potential, while meeting their fitness goals.
